reports and um who is reporting for uh
the county uh Mr ther do you

city uh there is nobody that's what I'm
saying I I'd be more than happy to show
the the report that Gino sent over but

ascmv monthly board meeting for the city
of Los cruus again for the record I am
executive director Clint fcker for the
shelter I'm not part of animal control
I'm just showing the presentation for
the
board uh it appears that the city had
453 reported stray animals for October
2020 237 gone on arrival 216 stray
animals apprehended 181 Strays impounded
at the shelter that consists of 89 dogs
and 92
cats uh 35 successful field returns and
10 unsuccessful attempts field returns
that were ultimately impounded at the
ascmv as a total of 45 idential
identifiable stray
animals this is the comparison of
reported Strays so the number it looks
like uh yellow is the current
year you see the uptick There Goes On
continuing to go up a little bit it
appears that it's you know in line as
you look at the um the past months and
the past years were a little bit under
which is is good for as far as the
animal shelter is concerned sorry I
shouldn't be putting my stuff in
there I'll just let you look at the
slide so this is a field a three-year
field RTO a return to owner comparison
it looks like they're very similar to
where they were last year
2019 close to
it so they had these are the reasons
they were unable to fi return to owner
those uh that were done four were
contact by phone and our residents um
one to MHC I think it's is that
Memorial Hospital I don't what MHC is no
space
number uh Mary L do you know what that
stands for
MHC um no I sure don't
okay uh four the chip not registered a
lot of times when you call on a
microchip because you scan the animal
you get the microchip number and you
call and the microchip number or the
microchip company will say I'm sorry
that chip was never registered it
doesn't go back to anybody it's very
frustrating for Animal Control Officers
to have that happen to them uh and then
two where the chip was not updated in
other words it was registered to a
person when they called but when they
tried to call that phone number or go to
that address they don't own that animal
anymore reasons for owners releasing
animals three dogs active aggressive
towards other pets and one dog acting
aggressive towards the owner
this is uh the Stray map that he does I
I don't have the links and things to
this so I can't open it
up my
apologies no it just advances when I
click on
it so any questions that I can't answer
it appears there are no questions for
you Mr ther you said you did such a
fantastic job still clear it's like wow
A+ on that report thank you Mr ther um
Mary Lou Miss Ward are you ready to
present on behalf of the uh County yes
Madam chair if I might before yes madame
yeah I am concerned that we don't have a
representative from City ACO and in the
future um you know either a written
report to accompany the the presentation
um misson has further information about
why we don't have even an ACO or chief
Chavez or someone um here that could
help us with um the

information con Factor here Gino did
send an email uh about three days ago
just stating that he was going to be
gone so we did have advanced
notice of his
absence I understand I don't know how
three days is sufficient but enough time
to get worker or someone else to be able
to do the presentation so I wondered if
upper management from the city's
perspective had any further information
moving
forward okay moving forward we'll
proceed
accordingly very sorry
inter and maym Gand so I hear your
concern and I can definely take that
back to coordinating and appropriate
response thank you mron

information commissioner Lynn Allens has

Me Miss Ward are you ready to present
yes ma'am thank you let me go ahead and
start my screen sh screen share
okay can you all see my
screen yes I
can all
right all right so we'll go ahead and
start off here with
um if I can just move this out of my way
here
and it's already going to the different
slides we'll go ahead and start off with
our October report um I'm Mary leard um
with donana County and we'll start off
with our dispatch calls for October we
had 531 dispatch
calls um the officers initiated
104 um calls and responded to 24
assisted calls so they assisted other
officers or other agencies for those
calls um they reported um Strays for
October so there was a reported
250 um straight animals they picked up
76 Stray Cats 89 stray dogs which is a
total of 165 stray animals um that were
picked up for
October in addition to those animals
picked up um we were glad to have no
owner surrender cats we did have 12
owner surrender dogs
25 um sick or injured animals got picked
up two animals for a welf for hold and
of course five animals that went to the
shelter for quarantines for various
reasons and then moving on to the field
return to owner so these are out in the
field return to owner this is the
three-year comparison chart so if you
look at that for October we had 34
animals got returned to the owner in the
field which which gave us a year-to date
of 328
animals this is something we did last
month as a request from the
Commissioners um wanting to know that in
the districts um in the commissioner
districts how many animals were picked
up stray animals in their districts as
we talked about it last month I guess I
not sure if how many of you remember how
we had that discussion where some of the
statistics are going to overlap each
other because some of those districts
overlap each other as well because
really our statistics go by D the Geo
districts which are the sheriff's
department districts so we can kind of
briefly go over that but be aware that
some of those stats will overlap each
other so commissioner Ellen's District
um we had 22 cats and 22 dogs
commissioner Gonzalez which was 19 cats
41 dogs um commissioner Reynolds was 22
cats and 22 dogs which going again um
those are shared by um some of those
stats are shared by commissioner Ellens
and then of course um commissioner um
siss 13 cats and four dogs and
commissioner Sanchez 22 cats and 22 dogs
and those will be um
explain a little bit better when we go
into the Geo districts and here they are
in the Geo districts um district one
which is third seven cats one dog two
which is 15 cats 21 dogs District three
which is 13 cats four dogs District Four
which is 22 cats 22 dogs District five
which is 17 cats 26 dogs District Six
which is three dogs
district 7 which is two cats and 12
dogs now going into our bite calls we
had 10 um bite calls to humans one um
exposure to other
animals and we had rabies one rabies
submission that was
negative um the animals that were
current on the rabes vaccination from
those we had three of those animals
which were current so four of those
animals were quarantined at the Animal
Services Center one was at the courth
hole facility
um and then three three I guess were
from um animals steel house from a prior
case at the courth hole facility and we
had four animals quarantined from a home
quarantine and then of course one of
them was one of those animals was just
gone on arrival so it was never
found so I'm going back into those
animals those dogs that were owner
released here's the reasons for that we
had seven of those dogs that were too
aggressive one they could no longer care
for the animal and couldn't handle the
dog well actually it was three of them
and then one of them it was exent
circumstances the dog's owner was
investigated for an animal cruelty and
they ended up owner releasing it and
then one of them was for financial
reasons um and then aren't going on to
our court cases we had five cases going
into court for October those five cases
had five charges which was about 177
hours of our regular time and 11 and a a
little bit over 11 and 1 half hours of
overtime um we had um one of them had a
90-day deferral sence two of them had a
continued cases one had a guilty plea
and one had an arraignment set for a
motion hearing for bench
warrant um added information on those
court cases um there was the two
citations that were issued were for
animal cruelty and three of them were
issued were for restraint
requirements and then going into our
snap reports this was came in from the
snap um reported system this was from
October's invoice that they sent to us
um dogs that got spayer neutered we had
36 dogs and cats were 37 41 microchips
and 36 vaccin ations which gave us our
contract year to date and which was um
74 dogs in and that were um Spa neutered
55 cats and then 92 microchips and 84
rabies vaccinations and I put contract
year-to date I didn't put a physical
year or anything like that because of
the way the contract reads on that it's
a little bit easier for us to put those
stats
together and so for that I'll stand for
any questions

report um is Miss uh Jeanie Jean Gilbert
here yes I'm here good after afternoon
everyone good afternoon Jean
Bice there we

um here's the list of um organizations
for
um that'll be represented in this
month's report uh the groups that aren't
listed will be in December's
report okay and I just want to note that
barow
is uh was forly known as uncage pause
that you see in the listing
here okay thank you let's look at the
next slide please here's a short list of
some of the coalition's work for October
and November supporting local groups the
Coalition of course you all know
presents this uh monthly report and then
members participated in cats meow um
virtual auction and are working on hsmm
holiday box fundraiser
now um we attended conversations with
the center which was a really good
session and that was I know Clan will be
probably reporting on that and that was
November the 6 and there were many
Animal Advocates that were in uh
attendance ongoing work can includes our
social media media work with our
Facebook and some of the other projects
we're working on as
allies of the shelter and his allies of
uh local local
groups okay next slide
please I'm almost home animal rescue is
based in El Paso and they serve the um
El Paso and Las cuses area Diane Avery
is the director and she works closely
with many lasusa Fosters and Welfare
groups here in Las cruus and here um U
forever or I'm sorry I'm almost home
animal rescue helped our animal shelter
here and they do on a regular B basis
and helped recently with this little dog
crackers who arrived at the shelter with
a fractured
leg and so that animal is in foster care
now with um I'm almost home animal
rescue and here's the dog park the dog
park is of course closed right now like
all the other city parks are but um
they're located at 430 North
Hermosa uh south of mine and uh parks
and uh recck do a power washing near
every or on a regular basis Excuse me
while dog park me Members maintain the
park on a monthly basis here you see a
dog who's enjoying the park on October
27th which we we all remember was the
first snowfall that we've had of the
winter
season okay next slide
please the Los crues pet Network Randy
Meyer is the primary person that handles
all of the um distribution that goes to
a large list of people trying to help
animals so that they can bypass the
animal shelter like this six-year-old
blind dog Wyatt who was relinquished to
the shelter because of owner extenuating
circumstances the pet network was
instrumental in securing a foster for
Wyatt so we had care and attention in a
home while waiting for Tootsie's Vision
here you see a picture of Wyatt in his
foster home with the cat has got Wyatt's
fed and Wyatt is uh resting uh
comfortably in a chair and I understand
now that why it is in
Albuquerque okay next slide
please forever homes animal rescue is uh
based in elag Gordo and they assist
animals in Southern New Mexico El Paso
andz Jamie Jones is our Las cis's
representative and forever homes animal
rescue has helped um shelter uh
heartworm positive dogs including these
three uh with getting discounted
medication for their treatment for all
these Foster uh dogs here that were
pulled out of the shelter and that's a
very significant uh service considering
the expense of heartworm
treatment and next slide
please pictured are two Animal Services
dogs who were pulled recently by forever
homes animal rescue and they're in uh
foster care with a lost Cruis approved
Foster until they are uh transported to
um rescue and adoption forever homes
animal rescue transported
49 uh shelter dogs they've um
transported that me many for the months
of January through October of this year
there uh the stats for forever homes
animal rescue is in board members
packets and it shows that over 125
animals have been trans transported for
August through October uh from Southern
New Mexico El Pas and watus to rescues
in New Mexico Arizona Texas Colorado and
other states by forever
homes animal rescue Safe Haven uh here
is pictured Phil who is a sanctuary dog
um available for adoption and he
received a complimentary grooming
service uh through better life pet food
uh through their customer rewards
program sha has adopted 15 animals
January through October and they're
planning a virtual auction fundraiser
this month uh proceeds from their
fundraisers and uh thrift stores support
their staff salaries and their 3 Acre uh
Sanctuary on the East Mesa that houses
upwards of 45 dogs and 35 cats
Phil looks very different from the
before and after
there pictured here is um um Amy um Amy
Joe Gonzalez and she organized a virtual
concert fundraiser for a few local
groups with a third of the proceeds
going to snap spay neuter Action Program
vouchers issued by snap January through
no November stand at
1,027 and the breakdown of their stats
is in the board member packets and of
course I know Mary Lou presented uh part
of the stats that tie with the uh County
contract okay and next picture please a
bar house pictured here as Denise Byer a
volunteer of bark House formerly known
as uncage Paws Denise is loading a p be
on the October 12th moms and puppy
flight uh that went out of Los crusis
with pet rescue Pilots that flew the
animals to San Diego also here you see
Coco Dean who is the managing director
of bark house featured on the cover of
the Las crusis bulletin and that wasn't
in their October 23rd issue of the Las
christas Bulletin

please uh this is the October 17th
flight with pet rescue Pilots they
transported this was a cat mostly a cat
flight they transported 15 cats and one
dog to Washington State bark house and
action programs for animals were the
adoption Partners who sponsored the
flight and pictured of immediately on
the left there is Kelly Barker and she's
the founder of bark house and standing
next to her is Coco Dean who we saw in
the previous slide he's the managing
director and then at two or three people
down he would be a fourth from the right
is Julian hore who is the chief pilot
and the owner of uh Pet Rescue
Pilots okay next slide please is
pictured is Sparky and you know we were
in the just in the previous slide it was
15 cats and one dog well Sparky was the
one dog that went on on the October 17th
flight and he marked uh the thousandth
uh passenger for Pet Rescue pilots and
that's pretty cool that he happens to be
uh one of our own from here in Los Las
Cruses um the let's see uh so Sparky and
the cats um can you back up just one can
you back up because I'm not quite
finished yet um so pictured to Sparky
and he was the only dog on that flight
with the 15 cats and he was adopted just
four days later after he arrived at the
Noah Center in Washington state um also
and of course there's julan hore who's
the owner and chief uh pilot of uh Pet
Rescue Pilots I know I believe there are
a few flights scheduled for this month
also with pet rescue Pilots bark house
has 40 um dogs right now that they've
pulled from the Animal Services Center
and those animals will be on flights
coming up this month and possibly next
if you look at the logo um uh on the
left there with uh Sparky that reflects
the services of bark house which is Snip
chip and ship snip spay and neuter
microchipping and shipping which is
Rescue by
relocation and a breakdown of the
numbers for bark house and the flights
they've done recently is in board
members uh packets along with some of
the services that they've
provided okay next slide please
November is adopted senior month and the
Coalition encourages those who are
looking to adopt to consider or looking
to Foster to cons to consider a senior
pet from our shelter or from any of our
area rescue groups and most
organizations right now are offering
discounted um adoption fees in in
observation
of adopt a senior pet Pit
month uh next slide
please and there are many advantage of
courses to adopting a senior animal as
this slide notes with senior felines
maybe are too old to climb the curtains
but they're not but they're young enough
to climb into your
lap okay and last slide
while this is a challenging time we
still have much to be thankful for
including our
pets so I appreciate your attention and
I don't know if anyone has any questions

information that she might not be aware
of regarding the bark house project
project we recently scheduled for three
airlifts in November supposed to be the
7th the 14th and the 23rd and pilot
Javier was on another flight coming
hopefully coming back from California
when he had the cylinders fall out of
his right engine so he had to make an
emergency landing in Bakersfield so he
was in the process of getting um the the
engine repaired and replaced and
inspected which put off at least our
first two airlifts but then it turns out
that um he had some Wing problems as
well so now it's kind of being put off
right now the county court hold um that
we maintain in the back of Griggs
currently has 54 dogs in there that were
holding for these flights including 12
newborn puppies um that have has been
born in the last two weeks and we are um
housing these to help alleviate the
pressure at the shelter as well as
holding these animals for
transport um Kelly Barker is working on
and her people are looking at chartering
another airline they've made reach outs
to the airports um they actually have
gotten some responses so we're hoping
that we will that they will be able to
resume their operations as soon as
possible but right now we're probably
looking at the first flight maybe being
at the end of November to early December
so that's just an update on what's
happening with that
project yeah thank you Jeanie because
that's all new in in information and
especially I did know that he had had
engine trouble but I didn't know of
course when it would be rescheduled and
then also too it sounds like there
additions now to the animals uh that uh
bark house is caring for and that's
wonderful so thank you for the

committee reports the first one is um
Finance counselor AA sty thank you madam
chair I'm gonna be turning it over to
commissioner Sanchez who very graciously
took over for me while I was
out thank you counselor um so uh Madam
chair we uh met on Tuesday afternoon and
it was a relatively light uh meeting and
I know uh Josh saffle is on and he'll be
presenting the numbers at the moment but
um as he goes through there was really
um I think one area that we looked at
that'll that'll become slightly apparent
it's not a huge uh concern but
everything's looking pretty well as far
as where the the finances are coming in
so um with that I don't know Josh are
you able to uh
share okay I'll turn things
over uh good afternoon Madam chair
members of the board my name is uh Josh
saffle uh and I would like to present
the uh unaudited financials for the
Animal Services Center for the month
ended October 31st
2020 uh starting off we see here
our uh statement of net position
highlights uh for the general fund we
had cash of
$673,500
$182,200
4,49
97 uh revenues collected in advance of
5551 and so that left us an unassign
unassigned fund balance in the general
fund of
$35,840
uh looking at the capital projects fund
we had $ 29,7 N8 in cash and a matching
uh amount as a restricted fund balance
also
of
$29,99 and again a fund balance of the
same amount that is
unassigned now we look at our change in
net position for all funds we see that
the general fund had total revenues of
1,
339,119
and there were total expenditures of 77
uh excuse me
$775,000 change to fund balance for the
period was
$564,000 uh in the capital projects fund
there was no Revenue but there was uh
expenditure for the period of
$1,767 uh Capital assets as well no
Revenue but there was um depreciation
recognized of $1
14,775 1, 339,119 we're
39.3% of the budget our total
expenditures were
23.0% the budget parameter is actually
33% I apologize I missed that when I put
this together but it is should be 33% so
we see that our expenditures
are Joshua
fosen wonder what happened for
oh okay what happened with that it looks
like we we lost him
okay so I guess if if you don't mind mam
chair I guess while he's getting we'll
see if he if Josh gets back on um really
I think when we were reviewing the fin
Cals as as he was getting probably
getting ready on the next couple of
slides really the only area that we were
slightly above the 33.3% parameter uh
four months into uh this fiscal year was
uh I think we're were looking at at
personnel and uh you know we were taking
a look at a couple of things with uh Mr
ther um one of them was number one I
think while while they were rotate doing
the the split shifts there was some
additional overtime that was um
that they had seen so there was some
slight cost of there but it looks like
some of it they were look going to look
a little deeper into the way some of the
costs were classified in some of the
different buckets so um that was really
the think the the things that we had
discussed that that could have slightly
brought up their their personnel but
nothing of that that was really of of a
huge concern um at least in terms of
where we
felt uh we we stand financially here as
to uh this fiscal year budget so
yeah in fact uh board we it's looking
really good as far as our our budget is
looking uh on those the commissioner is
talking about we had uh believe it was
like 43% was where we were at and it was
supposed to be about 33% so we're about
10% over um working with Mike we were
able to identify some discrepancies in
uh where some Personnel because we've
broke it down into four budgets if you M
and there's some Personnel that are
still um outside of those budgets we
need just need to align everything so we
are identifying some of those issues
currently and hopefully that we can get
them we're working with uh HR to get
those figured out but we're not we're
not alarmed um Mike says he says in the
big picture of our entire budget that it
may be 43% in our operations budget but
in the large picture we're looking just
fine because it all funnels down to that
one percentage so correct and and and I
think that that's exactly it I think
when the from the overall uh expenditure
portion of the Animal Service Center um
you know the the the overall operations
or the overall costs and expenditures
are below the um that that
33% um parameter we were looking at so
um Josie Saves the Day
I'm trying I'm trying I'm here at City
Hall and still um it seems that I also
have a internet
issues so let me open this
up so good afternoon uh um my name is
Josie Medina with a city finance
department and I will be finishing up uh
Josh's presentation I believe was on
this slide right
here yes whatever reason it does not let
me um do full screen so for October
actuals uh the total revenue was 1.3
million and total expenditures were
775,000 give me a second what screen are
you seeing because I'm having

he did say that the budget parameter uh
stated at
25.0% was
incorrect yeah so for October the budget
parameter is
33 67% on his slide he did have 25% but
the correct uh budget parameter for
October is
33% and so therefore our total revenues
are at 39.3% which are above the budget
parameter and the total expenditures are
below the budget parameter at
23% and here
is revenues and expenditures uh so for
October our total expenses were
278 and the total revenues were
192 and for revenues for the first month
of of the fiscal year year you'll always
see that one high as that's when the
city and the count County's contribution
is
21% and uh the rest will just even out
and for the expenses for October it was
total so expenditures are made up of 79%
Personnel Services at 12% supplies at 5%
Insurance 3% and other
is at
1% and the P of the we uh week we have
here and I I hope this is correct uh

correct but I was also going to say on
uh for number three facilities meeting
uh we did not meet because the facility
was not open so I wasn't even here to to
walk around um so it was canceled that's
when we were closed to the public oh
okay so facilities doesn't have a report
maybe correct okay and there's no
executive report okay so uh please uh
our shelter sta squeeze and activities
Mr ther
proceed I was looking forward to you
saying that it was skipped
uh all right you see the
presentation yes excellent so this is a
November 19th 2020 presentation for the
Animal Service Center msia Valley
current count at the animal center is
374 uh you see it's a huge reduction
since the 2019 of 62
7 our intake however is continuing to
tick up and up and up um it it's
worrisome to me because I I our staff is
again limited we have less staff than we
did in
2019 because of the covid we haven't
filled some of those positions just to
keep you know the population down as far
as people uh so there you can see that
we were at 896 2019 for the intake for
552 for 2020 that consists of 281 dogs
and 245 cats with 26
others so our returns we had looks like
eight animals uh behavior problems was
five dogs landlord does not allow one
animal health issues and can't afford
basic care each one cat for those um you
know some of these animals get a D it
out you only have a few to to sit down
and meet with them and the behavior
problems whenever somebody calls and
says I need to surrender I need to give
you back this animal because and they
State a problem we always have a a long
list of things that we go through have
you tried to do uh any type of behavior
uh fixing or training uh we have we have
you know the county dog we have
opportunities for people to um have a
free session of training um and
sometimes they take advantage of it
sometimes they just
don't so we always try to solve or
resolve their concerns but it always
doesn't happen doesn't work out
so so I really like this slide it shows
um my percentages that Bernice put in
here and we appreciate her for doing
that uh the adoptions 2019 like I said
before we had 242 and we had
222 this year so if we go by just the
sheer number it looks like oh no we
don't have many but because we're
bringing less animals that 222 has more
weight to it so
40% actually is what uh that percentage
comes out to be reclaims we're right
there steady with the reclaim percentage
of
11% so 64 animals are rescued 28
28.6%
left um as a rescue Community cat was
you know 80 at 14% euthanasia was at 21%
so euthanized less animals so it gave us
a live release rate in 2020 of
81.9% so 90 is The Benchmark that we're
trying to hit and trying to find and
we're continuing to inch closer to that
which I'm excite very excited to say
so only 8% that's
great some of our euthanasia reasons
again our number one reason again is
those feral cats uh with the city not
having a euthanasia I'm sorry a
community cat or trap neuter return plan
uh currently where I'm sorry they don't
they have in the ordinance is there but
they don't have any registered colonies
then these cats that are coming in do
need to be euthanized that continues to
be our number one reason reason our next
is a wildlife nuisance I that's the only
reason why like a skunk we euthanize
because it's a skunk we continue to look
for these other avenues for these guys
to to be to take them out but the
Department of Agriculture does not want
us to be releasing them just here and
there they uh and they're also
requesting that we euthanize them we've
looked at different models to to track
what you know live release St but they
all include Wildlife nuisance and I
don't want to take those out yet um but
it would be interesting to see and and
we'll see what it would be without those
animals
in and then you can see his low numbers
going all the way across for the
remaining so we had 38 animals that were
euthanized for a sick or injured reasons
so without those 38 if either they
didn't come in or they responded to some
TR type of treatment and we didn't
euthanize them this month we would have
had a
87% um live the straight is this a slide
that the board would like to continue to
see yes I would okay great well yeah
well all the yes but Clint if I may
otherwise um so euthanasia
uh count uh against uh lrr the live
release rate yeah because that's the the
animal number of animals leaving alive
and euthanasia is not
alive well but if it's sick or injured
it's a medical necessity it's not as if
they were just willy-nilly
um you know killed yes correct and
that's why the live release rate or the
no kill status is set at
90% because the indust recognizes that
you're going to have some animals that
are going to be sick they're going to be
fractur they're not going to be
adoptable and those animals are going
have to be euthanized um that's why I
say you never judge a facility just by
the live release number you know look at
it by the way that they're able to get
animals out I mean 87% may be the best
number we can get to because we're still
dealing with the we don't have the
resources to to cast an animal or we
don't have the resources to put an
animal and do blood work
so um we continue to to look at that and
respond the best we can so the 90% uh
requirement to be considered a um a no
kill
shelter uh or no kill
Center
um would um is is hard to hard to meet
because we would be at
87% right otherwise we we'd be three
three percentage points away yeah and
don't forget there's there's some months
that we've hit
90% oh because we have just such a low
euthanasia on those months it's usually
in the springtime that we hit those
those
numbers so it's in within grasp it's not
very hard it's just we need to have uh
the resources like on here you can
see um
uh like timid fear biter kind of a thing
I mean that is something it's not
highlighted but that's something that
all you need is just some training with
that it doesn't mean that the dog is
gonna bite your face off if when it's
eating what it means is is that it likes
its food and it's it's guarding it now
we don't know if that's a shelter
environment issue because it's housed
here in the shelter and it's scared and
it wants to have its food or if that's a
all the time issue that it has we just
currently don't have the resources to be
able to
take that animal out and get it in a
separate area have it rested you know
for three weeks or several days in a
home and then test it for food
aggression so we have we have what we
have here to deal with and what we have
so
it's as as long as those resources come
available we can get these animals out
to Fosters so on then we can get
more a better case of what we're up
against Great thank you thank you Mr fer
total visitors in the in the shelter for
October was
661 and for those that are watching and
see that big difference there between
2500 and
661 uh it's a reminder that we are doing
it by appointments only so anybody that
wants to see the animal even for
adoption they have to identify it online
which one they want they call set an
appointment and come in as well
this is another staggering number
4,030 for our web page
views um again a reminder that this is
web page view is one person can look at
many pages so if you go to our website
and click on the resource page and you
click on the covid best practices and
you click on adoptable animals that's
three right there so it's not web page
hits It's web page views and then our
Facebook we had page views of
2,285 which is I mean that's great
fantastic numbers that we see
there and there's our animals of the
month or the week I'm sorry time and
Rocco they both want some great
homes and that's the
presentation um to include in
this we also had as was mentioned before
conversations at the center I sent a
synopsis quick synopsis out to the board
so you could be up to date of what we
discussed there uh we had um some great
conversation about covid and our best
practices of covid and the employees
that were here um for Co there was a lot
of concern
from uh the attendees about the number
of staff that we had uh here to help and
care for the animals I assured them that
at no time did any of the animals go you
know not being cleaned or have food uh
we always had individuals here that were
that were here until the job was done
not you know just the end of their shift
was done so all the animals were cared
for
um there
was um some other topics I off the top
of my head my head just went completely
blank but I did send it out to the board
for those uh
reviews great thank you so much Mr ther
does anybody have questions for for
Clint no then want to point out Madam
chair just one more quick thing is we
did have our
audit oh yes that was our our audit exit
audit interview and that went very very
well there were no findings for uh the
ascmv there was there was a finding of
last year that they by law they had to
look at it and make sure it was was
corrected and we passed with flying
colors no issues or problems so reice
and I were very excited about that um
and it just shows that we are continuing
to make progress towards uh doing what
we're supposed to do and uh we really
want to be become part of the city so
we're falling in line with those
steps thank you for um to uh for ADD
that uh bit of information very
important I I was going to uh comment on
that
um when we got to um agenda item seven
so thank you for doing it for me thank
you very much and yes it's I was very
excited about that too that was
yesterday morning right it seems like a
long time ago but it was an excellent
excellent audit it's like we got you
know five stars on it so congratulations

following up on the question I had in
the last Zoom session pertaining to the
new feature on the ascmv website the
report is posted but the contact info is
not on the report I had to post one
yesterday and I lost to found because
the found dog has not been reported
elsewhere sorry but I added on the post
to call the shelter for the contact info
so what she's talking about let me share
my screen really quick so you can
see on our website people can fill out
this uh form and then it shows these
green boxes that you see and then so the
person so these are found animals so if
I found a dog out there I could say hey
I have this Rottweiler it's a female
it's black and brown no collar and I
found it on the 17th and I can click
here for more
information so it comes up and I they
put a picture on here it has all the
great information on here but what she's
talking about is right here it has the
name but it doesn't show the contact
number and so we're looking at this and
none of them have contact phone numbers
on it so either the people are not
putting the numbers on which I doubt it
or it's not getting published maybe due
to some security issues so we're talking
with Wilson Binkley and they are looking
into it to find out what that is for
that but it's it's a great thing because
we we're not currently taking adoptable
I'm sorry healthy animals from the
public as Strays so we're telling them
all these resources they can do and this
is one of them but the problem is like
you said it it's not showing it it's not
giving them the complete information for
it like here's one for a blue
healer they didn't post a picture but
has their name but they don't don't have
any contact info on
there very fley has been
trained so that's something that we're
looking into to correct so that's what
she's talking about
great anyone
else on U receipt of any kind of public
input she continues on she says she said
the second one is I please provide
status of the $10,000 Mattis fund Grant
earmarked for foster animals I think the
last that date was August 2020 board
meeting wherein you stated there was
only one vet who responded and then she
says hope all is well with you your
family and the shelter
employees so let me again share my
screen so this is a copy of the
application grant that we had and I
wanted to point out right here it says
in response to the covid-19 outbreak
Matty's fund is offering emergency
grants grants to support foster care
programs for the next three months apply
for help to maintain your foster care so
we can use it to maintain the Foster
Care Program create an emergency foster
care the grant can be used for Food
Supplies medical staffing Etc and then
it just shows here that we got the
$10,000 is how much we re
awarded so the money for that fund is
actually all been spent because we put
it into our Medical
oural Department to use the best way
that we can that's possible uh we had
two so the program that she's referring
to is as we reached out to our
veterinarians in the local area asked
them would you be willing to do some of
our surgeries for
sterilization um we had one come back
and say yes and then later on we had
another one come back and say yes so we
have two veterinarians in the area um
and we are using I I can't say were
using these funds directly because the
funds got put into our medical area and
our medical area is using them for
surgeries for supplies or medical
supplies for foster supplies like Foster
needs a crate or purchasing a
crate and so on
so but as far as the grant is concerned
that money has all been spent I hope
that makes
sense for it but it can we continue to
work with our Fosters and I have no
problem doing
so okay and that's the only uh
information that I had for public

exporting dogs to other
states but I don't know why we're
evacuating cats to other states because
they breed like cats cats Wherever You
Go I mean is there a shortage of cats in
Arizona or
Washington you know cats are a hard one
I if the rescue wants them we'll give
them to them I mean
it's by far it's not like you said dogs
get transferred and moved around a lot
more cats but yeah if a rescue says do
you have any any cats we'll for sure
give it to them I'm not going to argue
with
them I just can't believe there can be a
shortage of cats
anywhere come on
here it is possible some places have
great aggressive um SP sterilization
laws and where that's where that's very
aggressive and happening they're not
procreating so they do need

from the board um I can comment a little
bit on commissioner Ellen's last
question the places that these animals
are being shipped to are places like
Oregon Washington Idaho and some parts
of California whose laws whose state
laws Clearly say that all animals must
be sterilized so as a result their
populations in adoptable animals are
very few um when we when uh bark house
sent that first load out um there was 40
applications for one dog and that dog
was nothing special I'll tell you um so
there is that same for cats like I I'm
with commissioner Ellens on that who the
heck wants a cat but there is a need out
there on the west coast so I can speak
to that now how is it a greater need
than dogs probably not but still they're
asking in the in these these different
rescue agencies are asking for any dogs
and any cats that are appropriate for
travel thank you thank you just I wanted
to weigh in just and say that obviously
they have the resources that they can
mandate spay and neuter we we do not
have those resources and I'm sure
everyone is really challenged by that
right now with h covid yes yes good
